Inpatient Neurology - Advanced Practice Provider
Position Description
The role of the Inpatient Neurology Advanced Practice Provider is to provide exceptional clinical care of patients in the hospital setting working alongside and collaborating with Neurohospitalists. This position will be staffed at either Menorah Medical Center, Overland Park Regional Medical Center or a combination of both facilities. Currently, there are no on-call duties.
Education/Licensure:
- Master’s degree
- Graduation from an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program
- Current NP or PA license in good standing with the state of Kansas
- Eligibility to be licensed in the state of Missouri
- Prescriptive authority and DEA number or ability to obtain if applicable
- Current BLS
Experience
APP experience preferred; Neurology experience a plus but not required.
Schedule
- Monday - Sunday; at least 40 hrs per week
- Work hours: 8:00am to 5:00pm or until daily work is completed
- Shifts per year: 182

Job Responsibilities
- Providers will drop charges.
- Primary facility: Menorah Medical Center or Overland Park Regional Medical Center.
- Expected to independently see and bill 10-14 patients per day with physician support and oversight.
- Coordinates and reviews patient census with Neurohospitalist and develops plan to address each patient.
- Participates in unit rounds as needed.
- Obtains and reviews patient histories, performs comprehensive and focused exams and records findings in the electronic medical record.
- Determines medical status and diagnosis and develops clinical treatment plan alongside Neurohospitalist.
- Communicates treatment plan to hospital personnel as well as instructs and counsels patients and families on clinical treatment and care plan to ensure best possible outcomes.
- Orders and interprets diagnostic testing (i.e. labs, EEGS, etc.)
- Exercises initiative and judgment in selecting proper treatment.
- Responds to emergency situations in an appropriate manner.
- Completes documentation and responds to questions from patients and hospital staff in a timely manner.
- Attends meetings as requested.
- Other duties as assigned.

About Menorah Medical Center, Overland Park Regional Medical Center, and HCA Midwest Health Neurosciences
Menorah Medical Center is looking to expand their neurosciences program and has partnered with CarePoint Blue Sky Neurosciences to bring a superior level of neurological care to the patients in the Independence community.
Menorah Medical Center is a full service, acute care hospital serving the communities of Overland Park and Leawood with a medical staff of 600+ physicians, 950+ staff, and 190 beds. The hospital is a thrombectomy-capable site. The hospital has recently opened an unprecedented $65 million Neuroscience and Orthopedic Center which will allow the facility to further advance high-quality neuroscience and orthopedic care.
Overland Park Regional Medical Center is a joint commission certified in primary stroke center care. This facility has a Neuroscience Committee that oversees clinical practice guides, updates to clinical practice, and care of neurology patients both in emergency and inpatient settings. The hospital has a Certified Stroke Medical Director that leads the neurology team in providing 24/7 neurology care. CarePoint Blue Sky Neurosciences manages code stroke and neurology care and is available 24/7 in the care of acute stroke patients.
HCA Midwest Health Neurosciences Service Line is comprised of 13 neurologists with expertise in movement disorder, clinical neurophysiology, multiple sclerosis, and migraine subspecialties. The neurologists are vital to our care delivery team, focused on the inpatient and outpatient settings, further enhanced by 6+ advanced practice providers and a team of stroke coordinators. The service line also includes 14 neurosurgeons with a variety of subspecialty interests within the context of a general neurosurgery practice.
Our program includes one comprehensive stroke center with four primary stroke centers positioned across the South Kansas City corridor.
As a member of the neurosciences team, you will be partnering with HCA Midwest Health, the area's largest healthcare network & private-sector employer, with 150+ locations including hospitals, outpatient centers, physician clinics, ambulatory surgery centers, and an array of other services to meet the healthcare needs of the greater Kansas City area.
